My passion is to inspire others to be their best version of a leader.
Following 22+ years as a leader in Corporate America, I began to feel like I’d lost sight of what was important to me. While I was very grateful for the opportunity to contribute in many way, I was beginning to feel too comfortable. More importantly, for me, being comfortable for too long meant that I wasn’t growing. My growth is what gives me the ability to offer my best to others. Though I was still making time for learning, I was beginning to feel like I didn’t have the bandwidth necessary to really learn and share something new each day. Personally, I know that as a leader, learning and sharing knowledge is one of the most important gifts you can offer to those you lead. This is when it occurred to me that I had to do make a change in where and how I contributed my time and energy.
So, one day I was sitting in my office daydreaming about what it would be like to leave the comfortable space I’d coveted in the corporate environment for so many years to pursue my dream to teach leadership skills to other passionate leaders. After all, my team had experienced such great business and personal results over the years that I knew there was an opportunity to replicate these results for others. To do this, I would need to reach a more broad audience of leaders. With some trepidation, courage, planning, and of course, fear, I launched a consulting and coaching practice.
It has been 14 years since I started my practice. I have grown more in the last decade than in the first 30 years of my life and career. Moreover, the most rewarding part of the experience is observing similar results in the lives of others.
I find solace in the great words of wisdom shared by Dr. Martin Luther King and these words helped me to articulate my own vision of what is possible. “My dream is that one day we will live in a world where leaders aren’t chosen because they are liked by few, but because they have the character and courage to grow and to give their best to all.”
